We get asked a lot about our plans for what’s next with Foto and suggestions for upcoming Features. Our list of items to build and improve is extremely long. It’s rare that we get a feature suggestion that hasn’t been mentioned before, so we want to provide a list of items we will be working on to finish off 2024 and some bigger items planned for 2025.
There are only 3.5 months left in 2024, so we have to focus on just a few items for the rest of the year.
2024 Foto Roadmap
Portfolios
This will be our first paid Pro Feature. We plan to launch Portfolios before Foto becomes available in Apple and Android App Stores.
Content Moderation
We will make small adjustments to our Content Moderation System to prepare for the Apple and Google App Review required before Foto becomes publicly available. Apple specifically has requirements for apps that are centered around user-generated content, and we have to meet those requirements or risk being rejected by Apple.
Editing and Deleting Comments
We will allow users to edit and delete comments/replies that they make on Foto and account holders to delete comments left on their posts.
Mute and Favorite Tags
Tags have been great on Foto, and we will add the ability to Mute Tags for those topics you don’t want to see in your Discovery Feed. We will also allow users to set which tags are their Favorites. Favorite Tags will be used in two ways. The first way is by setting your Discovery Feed to show you only the tags you want to see by default. The second way is by helping you tag your photos much faster when creating a post.
Search by First and Last Name
Currently, you can only search by username on Foto. We will expand that to First and Last names so you can find people faster and more naturally.
Multiple Column Options on the Discovery Page
We will give users the ability to set their Discovery Page to 1, 2, or 3 columns.
Ability to Like Someone’s Comment
Adding Notification Badges to Android and Apple Foto Icons
2025 Foto Roadmap
Desktop
We will start designing and developing the Desktop Version of Foto in 2025.
Multi-Image Posts
Right now, you can only post a single image on Foto. We will be adding the ability to post up to 5 photos. Portfolios will have the ability to include 40 photos.
Metadata
There are so many interesting things we can do with image metadata, and we will launch features leveraging metadata in 2025. Most of these features will center around expanding search functionality, but some other metadata features will be used to help label/tag photos correctly and protect copyright holders.
More Discovery Features
We will be adding many ways to discover new accounts on Foto in 2025. I won’t go into detail here about each discovery feature, but we know we need to improve this area of Foto, and we’ll be constantly improving it moving forward.
Sharing outside of Foto
We will add the ability to share a link to your profile and posts to help Foto users share their posts and accounts outside of Foto.
Notifications Page Redesign
We will launch a fully redesigned Notifications Page for more efficient communication and social interaction management.
Adding DMs
Some people love direct messaging, and others hate it. We will add DMs, but we will also give users the ability to turn them off completely.
Another Pro Feature
We will start on our second Pro Feature in 2025. This will likely be either the Shop Feature or Post Scheduler—maybe both!
There are many other items we may get to building in 2025, but this is a solid list for now. Making exact plans is always tricky because life has a way of taking you down a path you don’t foresee. None of these features are written in stone, but these are things we are planning for right now.
Sprinkled throughout all of these features will be more minor features and bug fixes.
If you have any additional features you want us to work on in 2025, please comment below, and we’ll consider them.
Thank you for being so supportive of Foto!
Cheers,

I'm so happy I supported Foto from the get go, but for a while I have gotten away from mobile apps. I'm a dedicated desktop user and look forward to that version's release. Congratulations on all the achievements over such a short span of time!
to me you're doing a great job. what i won't like to see is a feature that is there only because you can put it there, i would like to see features that are practical. example: i don't like to see my activity from last week only because you can create a statistic but i would like to see how many people clicked on a photo rather than how many likes the photo collected.
