Hey everyone!
We’ve installed Foto on an iPhone and Android phone.
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been testing Foto, finding bugs, and determining what needs improving before Private Beta.
We’ve organized a list of 20 improvements we need to make before we launch Private Beta. There are some things we know need to be improved, but we’ve put them into a second category of things to work on after Private Beta launches.
We are working full-time on these updates to get us into Private Beta as soon as possible, but we also feel that it is important to not rush and produce a low-quality product. Creating technical debt (bad code) that we have to dig ourselves out of isn’t worth the speed of pushing Private Beta out the door before Foto is ready.
While we are going to make the Private Beta version of Foto very simple, it still needs to have a quality experience. This first version of Foto is going to be the foundation we build on top of for the foreseeable future. We are so thankful for the support you have shown Foto and for your excitement about getting Foto onto your personal phone.
It’s still possible that Private Beta will happen in August and we are going to do our best to make that happen. Our overall philosophy right now is to ‘Go Slow to Go Fast’.
We are going slow right now to make sure we are building a rock-solid foundation that doesn’t need to be reworked within 6 months. By going slow now, we can go fast later, when it really matters.
Thank you for all the messages, donations, and conversations about Foto.
If you’d like to join Private Beta, you can get on the list for as little as $5.
I’ll be keeping everyone updated on our progress next week. Hopefully, we can cut the list in half over the next 7 days.
Cheers,
Michael Howard
Michael, i’ve seen reports of tornadoes in Tennessee. Are you and your family alright??
I paid for the beta experience but may accidentally have unsubscribed from emails. Can someone please check? Thanks.
