Everything you need to know about the Foto Public Launch

Foto launches in the Apple and Google App Stores on Feb. 21st, 2025. We are grateful for your support and look forward to celebrating this milestone with you. While this is a big moment for Foto, it’s just the beginning, and we know Foto has a lot to improve and add in the future. Our commitment to building a quality photo-sharing platform will only get stronger from here. This is not the end but the start.

Here is everything you need to know:

BETA TESTERS

If you are a current Beta Tester, you don’t need to do anything unless you want to stop being a Beta Tester.

If you want to continue being a Beta Tester, get the latest updates from us at Foto, and help us identify bugs, you don’t have to do anything. Just enjoy the ride.

If you want to stop being a Beta Tester and move to the Public version of Foto, you’ll need to install the public version from the Google and Apple App Stores.

Android Beta users, if you want to move to the public variant then you will first have to uninstall the beta app and then install the public variant using the same link. You can only have one kind of Foto app installed at a time: either a beta or a public variant.

Apple Beta iOS users can have either a TestFlight or the public variant. Installing the app from the AppStore will remove the TestFlight variant.

Once Foto is live, we will post direct links to Foto on both App Stores on our website and social media channels.

AMBASSADOR OFFER

The Ambassador Offer will end on Saturday, March 8th, 2025.

As a Foto Ambassador, you will join an exclusive group, be treated as a Pro+ user, and have the privilege of creating unlimited Portfolios (once we launch the Portfolio Feature).

Foto Ambassadors are locked in at a lifetime rate of $5/month or $50/year. We also have a $500 one-time payment option that will give you access to all Pro+ features that we launch in the future at no additional costs.

Ambassadors will not see their rate increase!

Ambassadors will save over 50% compared to the Pro+ Plan for as long as you stay an Ambassador.

Pro Pricing

When we launch Portfolios (the first Pro feature) with the in-app purchase functionality, we'll officially introduce the Pro and Pro+ plans.

Pro users will gain access to Pro Features for a flat monthly/yearly subscription rate. Future Pro Features will automatically be included in your Pro subscription rate.

Pro will be $6/month or $60/year

Pro+ will be $10/month or $100/year

Pro users will be able to create eight portfolios.

Pro+ users will be able to create an unlimited number of portfolios.

NEW TO FOTO?

If you are joining Foto for the first time tomorrow via the Public Launch, here is some information you should know.

• Foto comprises a small team of 3: Michael, Sahil, and Adam. We will hire more people to increase our progress speed as we grow.

• We are 100% community-supported and have received $0 from VCs and Investors. We are bootstrapping Foto and building it free from the pressure of a “growth at all costs” mindset.

• You are arriving at the very beginning of Foto's long journey. We've been in Beta for the past 1.5 years with over 16,000 beta testers, but we are still just getting started. We have a long way to go, and we are excited to work with you to build a beautiful platform for photo-sharing.

• Foto is not perfect. We need to fix some bugs and add a ton of new features. You can reach out with any bug reports, feature requests, or questions to help@fotoapp.co

• Foto is video-free and ad-free and doesn't crop your photos.

• Foto is free to use. We will soon release OPTIONAL Paid Pro Features, but Foto will always have a high-quality free tier.

SHORT TERM FOCUS

Even though Foto will be publicly available tomorrow, it still needs many new features added.

Here is where our priorities are focused for the rest of 2025.

• Launching the Portfolio Features

• Improving Discovery

• Launching a browser-based desktop version of Foto

We'll add more features than this in 2025, but these are the three major items on which we will focus our time and attention.
